A GIFT or A WISH? by Miss D

It is barely a week to the forever hyped “Valentine” (checks calendar). What plans have you made for that day? Are you single? Or in a relationship (friends with benefits, serious/unserious relationship, side chick/dude affair, etc.) whatever the kind of relationship that you are presently in, do you wish to celebrate Val’s day? Or is it just the regular “nacks?” (Pardon my slang for sex).

Many believe valentine is overrated (public opinion) as you necessarily do not have to wait for just one day to show that special someone that you love them or show them how much they mean so much to you. Do you agree? Or are you just one of the crowd followers? (I must be vald by fire by force) I know there are a lot of people (ladies especially) who expect to be showered gifts upon gifts but get disappointed when they don’t even see a fake rose (you know the type you gave your crush back then in secondary school lol).

Well, well, well… Valentine will come and go right?… it is just a day really… what’s the fuss? Many will clear their accounts just to buy God knows what to impress a girl (who may not even date you at the end or worse still give you a hug in return for the gifts) Do not see this as a reason not to Val a girl o (I’m just saying)…

What really is the essence of valentine? Is it a day you wear red from head to toe? (Red is the official color; be on the lookout for red-on-red combos from hell) A day you expect sex for free from your numerous girlfriends/boyfriends? (Just one call and it is settled you know how you people do your thing *zips mouth*) Or is it a day you reach out to the less privilege by spending time with them and showing them that we still care about them in the society? Or is it about buying and exchanging gifts? What exactly is the purpose for Valentine’s Day? (jamb question abi?)

Anyways, my own is just to type and say all that’s on my mind… below are a few things a woman would expect on Val’s day… Every woman in a relationship or not, as long as you have friends or a spouse, should get at least a gift in appreciation for being there when nobody cared and when you needed them the most… except you have bad friends or people don’t like you; all join…

SHOES
You can never go wrong with shoes... A lady wouldnt mind one more pair of shoes to add to her collection... They are affordable and trendy

Feed your eyes and check your pockets (there’s nothing God cannot do for you) and ensure you take out time to think about that special someone and how she would react when a nicely tied present awaits her on Val’s day and the look on her face when she opens it(lashes)… Wouldn’t it be sweet to see her blush as she reads the contents on a little card bearing the name of the sender or a nickname and all that mushy “I love you” stuff? Think about it…

Sunglasses
Fashionable Corset bra-tops

Skull Neck Candy

A handbag

Wrist Candy
Blazer

I know the guys most times feel neglected on Val’s day (squashy hugs); we love you guys but truth be told, Ladies are hardly appreciated these days (especially the good ones). They are out there in large numbers… your mother who prays for you on a regular bombarding your cellphone with calls and asking questions like “Have you eaten and hope you are good?, that lady in your office that offers a helping hand whenever you seem stressed and you need someone to talk to and of course, the one and only chick who you bbm, call, text 24/7 everyday (maybe the side chick, what the hell, she needs to be loved as well) , get her something just because “It is Valentine’s day”. Though, everyday should be Valentine’s Day in a relationship you cherish… (Smiles).

Alright, I have aired my mumbled thoughts… These are just ideas... I tried abi? (giggles) I have to go but I’ll be back soon… you know nau (kisses) Miss D…
