HEALTH: Dealing with depression

Surely, lots of people know or have an idea of what depression is. Depression is a mood disorder, an illness that affects a person's body as well as the mind. Depression has various twists to it, ranging from feelings of sadness, anger, frustration or anxiety to hopelessness, emptiness and so on. Depression, like any other illness affects anyone from kids to the elderly. I’ve divided this article into segments.

We’ll be looking at the causes, effects, types, symptoms, prevention and treatments of depression. Now, starting with the causes, an exact cause has not been found but theories have been made, hence the following:

-BRAIN CHEMISTRY
Depression can be caused by chemical changes in the brain. Imbalances or shortages of certain chemicals play a role in some cases of depression.

-FAMILY HISTORY
some families have issues with depression, therefore the tendency of the illness being inherited.

-ALCOHOL/DRUG ABUSE
Excessive intake of alcohol and harmful drugs can lead to depression gradually.

-MEDICAL CONDITIONS
certain health conditions like cancer, long-term pain, menopause, etc. can also cause depression.

-STRESSFUL EVENTS
These range from relationship troubles, to job issues, financial difficulties, death of loved ones, divorce, academic failure, childhood abuse etc.
Now the Effects. . .

Depression can change the way you see yourself, your life and those around you. Depressed people see things negatively, they have that belief that situations cant be solved in positive ways. People suffering from depression are likely to use alcohol or illegal drugs as a form of escape and this shouldn't be so. Health problems tend to be on the high side with depressed people, and suicide risks are also increased.

Depression is a medical illness, not a sign of weakness and It is treatable. The types of depressions, symptoms and treatments will be discussed in the next article.

Fashion Must Haves for Every Guy

Are you that guy who gets migraines over what to wear or perhaps you are that guy who picks up the first cloth he can lay his hands on from the piles of clean clothes lying scattered on the bed. Whether you are the former or the latter one thing we can all agree on is that looking for that perfectly matching colour or style can be such a hassle.

Everything in life is better understood when it is explained from the basics and that’s why we decided to begin with the basics in men’s fashion and give you 15 men’s fashion must haves. These nuts and bolts of men’s fashion are the foundation of everyday wear and they’ll keep you looking good and bail you out whenever you lack inspiration. Do read the following list and take note of which fashion item is missing in your wardrobe.

Formal Dressing

Suit

Get a well-tailored suit for that smart corporate look when the need arises anytime during the year, especially when you are looking to stand out at a wedding, interview or presentation. A most have is a black or grey single-breasted suit for that conservative, easily blend in look but if you are in need of a fashion statement, nothing screams style like a dark-blue suit.

Corporate pants/trouser
Corporate pants/trouser
Invest in pants in the neutral colour hues; black, grey and even brown for that office or formal getup look. However, if you can’t get the perfect mix with the other neutral colours just stick to black. You can never go wrong with black.

Shirts
A button down plain coloured shirt, preferably white/blue is very important in a man’s wardrobe and can be worn alone or under a suite/jacket. Get a fitted shirt to give you that smart look whenever you need to step out in style.

Tie

A tie is a fundamental fashion piece that compliments the suit to give that perfect corporate look. Although you should have a variety of ties, you should purchase at least one new trendy tie that is in vogue for that season. That way you’ll look both stylish and current in fashion trend. You will look timeless.

Shoe
Nothing speaks class than a man’s shoe and investing in a quality shoe is a must for all men. A black/brown oxford leather shoe is the shoe of choice as it is both elegant and timeless. While you can find the shoe in every price range, splurging on the best leather is what makes the difference.

Casual wear

Ankara Outfit

Ankara Outfit
We are Africans and can but not have at least one Ankara fabric in our wardrobe. Have a well-tailored Bespoke Ankara attire for that casual look. Ensure it is well-starched and neatly pressed before wear. Don’t be boring with your styles. Always enquire about latest styles and be observant of current trends. Most importantly find out from a good tailor what fits you

.

T- Shirt/Blue denim jeans
The blue jeans and white t-shirt look is what men worldwide mostly aim for when they aren’t at work. It is an ensemble that is simple, looks great while remaining comfortable. You can let the white tees rest and wear nice coloured and fitted tees.

Cardigans
Ideal for all weathers (Yes! Even during the hot season), a good cardigan will always be that perfect accessory to your casual look. Note however there are different types with different fabrics that are suitable for different weathers.

Pam Slippers

Pam Slippers

Very essential for wearing native/Ankara wears, especially as an alternative to shoes.

Velvet suede shoes/loafers
SlimBen Loafers. unveiledshop.wordpress.com
The velvet suede shoe is one type of shoe that can be worn on any casual attire from a pair of distressed jeans in combination with the double breasted blazer to sporting them with your Ankara attire. They come in all types of colours and are so easy to wear. Make sure you have at least one.

Accessories

Messenger bag
The term “messenger bag” refers to bags that are styled after the one bicycle messengers carry. They typically feature a shoulder strap so the bag can be worn over your body – in true messenger style – with the bag hanging down your side or slung onto your back. They are both casual and trendy and the fact that they are roomy enough to hold a lot of stuffs makes them a most have for every man.

Belt
Aside from the fact that it helps keep the trouser in place, it is also a fashion item that defines your style. Get a black leather belt with a buckle head or any simple design to get you going all day.

Wristwatch
A timepiece, like shoes, can say a lot about a man’s personality and his style. If you are limited to just one watch, make sure it is one that can be worn both during formal and informal occasions. Get an elegant black leather colour watch to easily match your cloths.

Leather wallet
A leather wallet is a must have fashion accessory that everyman must own. It is enduring, convenient and would look great in both formal and casual occasions. A brown or black leather wallet is the perfect choice as it blends perfectly with any attire and is a classic that will never go out of style.

Good fashionable sunglasses
Sunglasses not only give you a sense of style but also help protect your eyes from the ultraviolent rays of the sun. It is important to find the right balance when shopping for sunglasses. Your sunglasses should be clean and compliment both your face and the situation you’ll be wearing it in.

With all said, I do hope you have taken note of the fashion essentials you are missing. So what are you waiting for, Go shopping and have a great week.
